Dining Out for Life
Want to enjoy the most satisfying meal you'll ever eat? Then join us for this year's Dining Out for Life event that will be held on Thurs., May 1, 2008.

When you dine at a participating restaurant, a portion of your food bill is donated to support services in the fight against AIDS. Family and Community Service will again be Delaware County's affiliate agency and beneficiary of funds raised from this event. Participating restaurants agree to contribute a share of their food receipts and donations received to our Agency's HIV/AIDS services programs.

Grandparents Conference
On Thurs., May 1, 2008, Family and Community Service and the Widener University Center for Social Work Education will be hosting the eighth annual conference for grandparents raising grandchildren, caregivers of special needs children, and professionals working with these families.

The conference, entitled Risk and Resilience Among Grandparents and Grandchildren will feature Roberta R. Greene, Ph.D. and will examine the protective factors at work in families where the grandparents are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren. Dr. Greene will be sharing her expertise on resiliency, especially as it applies to grandparent headed families. There will be additional workshops focused on skills and strategies to decrease risk factors for grandchildren and increase resiliency for all family members. Dr. Greene is an author and Professor, and the Louis and Ann Wolens Centennial Chair in Gerontology and Social Welfare, at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work.
